As Yogi Berra said, "It's deja vu all over again!".

Closer to 1962 than 1952
The date would be closer to 1962 than 1952. Buddy would have been (15) in 1952. Great Video. tfc

I don't know Bo, it seems to me that ET liked it exactly the way it was done. He seemed to have that familiar smile of exellence he always gave as a nod in favor of his band's performance.
And, I'd imagine, that Buddy was indeed both happy and excited to be playing behind such a great artist.
A real nice picture.
Thanks for memories of the past. It's only sad that there isn't more County, that was indeed Country!

Don, I love old country too, and my submit was not intended to be a bash of ET or BE. However since you bring it up. By today’s standards the cut and paste video with ET singing as only ET does and the (what the hell kind of fill was that) and over playing band just doesn't cut it. The only redeeming thing about the whole thing was Buddy's solo. Other than that it had very little entertainment value other than to have a good laugh.
Maybe I'm wrong about something that seemed so obvious. So let me recant.
I’m sure that B E was pleased as punch about that little cut and paste project and would be proud to have his name all over it.

Bo, Regardless of your thoughts on it. Everyone has his/her opinions. You're entitled to also.
What I can't figure out is why is it that you feel it isn't a Great Picture of Buddy, really enjoying himself, as well as the others seemed to be on that clip?
And what gives you the right to decide whether or not, Buddy would like seeing it. Simply because it doesn't fit in with your genius scheme of things on how it should be played.. Bo, do you honestly feel that ET would hire someone, and perform with them if it didn't fit the way he wanted? Son, you don't give much credit where one hell of a lot of credit is due.
If I'm not mistaken, Buddy is a member and quite capable of speaking for what his likes or dislikes are.
Not meaning to offend you at all, but your attempts at putting someone down, who's talent is well beyond what many will ever achieve isn't a very good thing to do. It's simply disrespectfull.
Forget trying to be the genious, of what or how music should or shouldn't be played "according to Bo" and come down to earth.

PS: Forgot to mention also, that Leon, was one of the best, and I don't suppose your ears could actually distinguish between Leon and Buddy spitting it up, due to Leon's playing (and back in that era) sounding quite a bit like Buddy's steel.
You've got to remember, when you put down a group as excellent as what they truly were (yes, even on that video) it only shows you don't know a whole heck of a lot on what you speak of.
Question: Did you ever get a chance to see, Lynn and Pete behind ET? Forget recordings, I'm talking about live and in person, or Buddy and Leon.
Bo, when you make those kinds of incinuations, against the best in the business, you're not adding much to your credibility at all.
I think it was one of the best videos I've seen in one hell of a long while. I don't know how others feel, but I most certainly do.

E.T., much like Little Jimmy Dickens, was famous for having very skilled musicians in his band. The so- called "over playing" was part of his sound. I can't begin to imagine what Ernest would sound like with a quieter & less-skilled band!!!
Besides his band, he was famous for his rather calm & gentle stage manner and his rather dry vocal delivery...they also called him "Mister off-key". Just about anyone that has ever heard him sing, especially drunks in bars, say "Hell, I can sing just as good as this guy can". That's what makes his music great.
I'll admit that the video doesn't do Ernest, Buddy or any of the other pickers justice. They produced video so crappily back in the day. Lots of long lasting shots, not enough cutaways, you generally don't see enough of the band & you don't get to see how much fun they are having. Not alot of visual entertainment, but it is still great music!!!
We are so fortunate that video still exists of our legendary performers...we're even more fortunate that
video sites like youtube are around so we can watch them!!!
