Hello everyone,
I am finally coming in off the road and able to spend some time with my guitars. I dug through the old Steel without Pedals to find my original posting about my Stringmaster. It was Feb 2005! Can't believe it's been that long. Anyway, briefly, it's a D-8 Stringmaster that I bought off eBay. Misrepresented, blah blah blah. Didn't function out of the box. Neck selector switch was broken and bridge pick up had been cut from the circuit on the far neck. I never opened the other neck until tonight. Seems the bridge pickup wires were cut one of that neck too! I'll have to wire em both back to determine if all 4 pickups work. It seems a little odd that both bridge pickups would stop working. Even if they did stop working, why cut the wires? Just roll em back with the blender knob. So I'm wondering, to anyone's knowledge, would there be reason such as tone or a trend in the 50's or 60's to electronically remove the bridge pickups? Can anyone think of a good reason to cut the wires on both pickups?

Almost seems that the pickups were removed and put back in. Hard to say why people do those things.
It would take only cutting one wire to disable a pickup. Just have to wire them back in and see what happens.
Good luck with it. |

Sorry to hear about your butchered guitar!
On a Stringmaster isn't the bridge pickup always on and the blend knob adds in the neck pickup? _________________ http://www.drewhoward.com |
