How stable is the meter on the Korg rack tuners compared the Korg analog (needle) tuners? Newman, in his videos, seems to prefer the analog style tuners. Currently, I am using a WT-12 but I am considering one that will auto-change notes within the scale when plucked.

If you need to tell a tuner what note you want to tune, it's time to get a new tuner. There are plenty of threads on the forum that discuss tuners. I personally like the Peterson myself.

Jeff,

Thanks for the input. I have decided on a DTR 2000.

I own one of those. It's a very nice piece of equipment to have. In the event you have a rack case that sits on the floor next to one of your PSG legs (facing up), I'd recommend putting that unit on the bottom. The LED screen is angled as part of the design, just enough where it's hard to tell if your looking at a E or F note. The added light is pretty much useless as it puts light on the LED which is a place the light should not be.

The photo does not show the angle... but the bottom sticks out further then the top... thus causing the issue.

The way I have been tuning for years is to Dial the root on the tuner and tune strings 4 and 8 (E9th talk here). I leave the tuner on same root note to tune strings 3 & 6, the 3rds, and 5 & 10, the 5ths. Then switch the tuner to B to tune my 1rst and 7th strings. The rest of my guitar is done using this method. The strings are tempered to work together and this is the easiest method I have found in noisy bars where you cannot tune turned on by ear. This method DOES require a tuner that needs to be "dialed", or at least one that will allow switching from auto tune to manual tune. While I have found that I can tune much quicker with a Peterson Strobe VSII which I have, I still prefer the analog meter type. In my case, the dialup type is pretty useful. Anyone know of a good anaolg meter type tuner that will allow both auto and manual. Suggestions will be most helpful. Thanks. Zeke
