Topic: broken knob on N-1000 |

Last night when I arrived at our weekly "Opry"
I found that sometime during the week someone or somthing had either knocked my amp off of its stand or something had fallen into it. The low knob was bent over at a angle and of course one side broke off when I tried to straighten it up. Will this unscrew and come out or does it need to go to a tech? |

Yes, the chassis will have to be removed and the preamp board removed to solder in a new Peavey replacement pot.
All the front panel controls are soldered into the preamp board and you will have to remove the knobs and then unbolt all of the controls to be able to remove the preamp board. This is one of those repairs that the labor (if an amp tech does it) will cost more than the part because of the time involved in removing the chassis and installing it.
A "knob guard" of some type may or may not have prevented this, depending on how it hit. |

| Thanks Jack. This is what I was afraid of. A guard would not have helped. What ever hit it was straight onto the knob itself. It even left a little indentation. OF course nobody did it. Off to Peavey it'll go. |

I have that same problem. My Session400 Limited has a broken reverb and shift knb. I was not looking forward to replacing it. I am a stickler for detail and wish for them to be right . What is the price of these pots for a session 400? I am an eletronic technician at the post office and I believe I could fix it myself or would this be a mistake to attempt?

Hi Dwight
Since your a eletronic technician, and if
you can solder real good, you can do it by
yourself. It is time consuming to take it
apart though,and must use a Solder Sucker
or Solder Wick to remove the old solder.
I just changed pots on my NV1000, NV112,
and almost all of them on my old 130.
It took a half day to do all 3 of them,
but they all work great again. You may
need to get a new knob if the shaft is in
the old one. The price for pots and knobs
wasn't to bad from Peavey either.
