I have an Emmons 10 string single coil that measures 20 K ohms.

What I'd like to know is if it's an E9 or C6 pickup (if they are different), and what tone (bright, mellow etc) you would expect with it.

TIA,
Charlie

I beleive the 20k was a C6th pick up, if i am correct i think the E9th was somwhere between 13k and 17k, cant swear by it though, but i am pretty certain thats, in the ballpark. 20 k will be a fairly darkish tone for E9, everybody's opinion will differ. There is only one rule to follow concerning tone. Sound good! Smile

I'm sure you are correct. That jives with my dim recollection of these matters.

Thanks!

I have an 83 push pull D-10. The pickups appear to be the original single coils. Both pickups measure about 20k. I discussed this issue with Bobby Bowman and he said those are the standard Emmons pickups from about the early 70s on. Both necks have that wonderful Emmons tone. I believe your pickup will work just fine on E9 or C6.
