My old BMI pedal from 1983 has the pot stem and string on the outside of the pedal. The shaft has a rubber bushing/sleeve for traction. It works well. Does anyone know where I can find this rubber material? It would be an ideal solution for a project I am designing (not a volume pedal) as an alternative to the Goodrich style metal hardware with a screw that requires relatively complex string winding to achieve positive string/shaft connection. Specifically it needs to have the proper inner diameter to tightly slide onto a shaft and it needs to be soft enough rubber to have appropriate friction with the string (and adequate grab on the shaft). I'm not sure that plastic tubing would meet these friction needs.
Any sourcing ideas? |

| Good call, Jay. I've actually got some latex tubing sitting in a shopping cart at smallparts.com. But it's a 25' $16 roll. It's hard to place the order not knowing if it's the stuff I'm looking for. Internet searching is only turning up large minimum order options. I'd love to find a couple of feet somewhere, retail. I do have access to nylon tubing (air hose stuff) and I know that it is too hard & slick for my needs. |

Jon, the hose looks to me like fuel line hose which you can find at probably any auto parts store or small engine shop.
