Is a nice condition, 4 pedal, six string Harlin multichord worth 200 bucks? I saw one for sale and wondered if it was worth it...even if I just flipped it

| Yes, that's nearly what it's worth. Strangely though, they sometimes bring more. Some of the 8-stringers go for $250-$375 if they're in good shape. (Most aren't.) |

| I thought they were worth more, although I have one and posted it for sale here on the forum when I first joined. Not much interest in it. One guy offered me $550.00 but never got back to me. The pictures are here on the forum, I do not know how to repost them. I would like to trade it for a dobro of similar value. |

The guitar player in my band bought one of these,he playes lefthanded[he lost the two middle fingers on his left hand years ago] he strung the steel backwards,used two of the pedals and made a palm pedal that pulls two strings,we play somethings together like Sleepwalk,me on E9th,him on his,also it has tone to the bone on some of the blues stuff we do. he build a stand for it so he can play it standing up,and switch back and fourth between it and his guitar.plays it with a flat pick. DYKBC.

They do have great tone. I'm trying to find new tuning keys for mine. They are really small.

| It's well worth more than $200. I have three of them. I'm even thinking of converting one to regular pedals, using cords and pulleys. You can change the copedant on one of those in a matter of a few minutes, while on a normal pedal steel it could take all weekend, or be not possible at all. |

Are you referring to the small bolts which screw into the steel block and regulate the extent of pedal pulldown ? If so, they can be bought at a hardware store. I recently bought a box of them. |

Alan, the tuning keys on the head stock. The plastic grips for turning and tuning strings have become brittle and crumbled apart. The actual tuners work, I just can't turn them.

That a common problem. You can get replacements from Stuart-McDonalds, but you have to fit them yourself, which requires pressure or heat or both. The good thing is that they're not expensive, so buy more than you need, and if you break one try again. 
The plastic covers for the machine head and bridge are very rarely intact. Over the years the oil evaporates out of them and they become brittle. Most MultiKords today are lacking the covers. Someday someone will produce replacements. Until then, the guitars will remain denuded.  (I think they look better that way.) |
