Some have visited the Ryman Auditorium, but WHERE, oh where, did the Louisana Hayride gather and broadcast from? What about the Renfro Valley Barndance in Ohio and Kentucky? And, the Medwestern Hayride?

What about those historic recording studios?

The Country Music Hall of Fame?

I'd sure like to see them before I leave this great world but at my age, it's highly unlikely I will.
The FORUM members, could make it all a reality.

Hayride broadcasted from the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, the building is still there and is well presented in a recent Hank Williams documentary. Here's some backstage footage of the legendary building:

I could have posted this on Ray Montees recent post on differen't historical Country Music locations, but I thought I would start new thread just for Town Hall Party. Town Hall Party was origanally a medium sized Dance Hall called the "The Lighthouse" where the frontal facade was built in the style of a lighthouse tower. This dance hall booked in Bob Wills and Merle Lindsey during WW2. I got my first playing job with a band here in 1943 when I was just 14 years old. However, the light could not be lit because it was during the "Brown Out" in So. Calif. so any Japanese planes could not see any lights on the ground. On a foggy night it was hard to even find the place. A big part of the crowd was sailors from Long Beach on shore leave who rode the bus up to Compton. I had my 6-string lap steel and a amp with a 6" speaker. Somehow I was accepted and survived. Later on the dance hall was taken over as "Town Hall Party" and the Lighthouse facade was changed to a "Barn Loft" and the hall was completely redecorated to a Barn Dance atmosphere. The rest is history with all the big names that were part of and performed at THP.

Well evidently I did post this on Ray Montee's post but perhaps Town Hall Party deserves a new post by itself.

Renfroe Valley was from Kentucky, Midwestern Hayride was from Cincinnati over WLW which was a three station network, Cinci, Dayton, And Columbus.

It's really great to get to see pix of these great performance halls or radio stations. Out west, they're tearing them all down in order to build row houses.
Thanx for participating. Can we hope for more?
