How often does one of these come around, and what might one expect to pay for it?

There is, or perhaps was, a couple of similar steels for sale at shops in Toronto in the last few months, and they were asking around $850...Jerry

Really? I was sort of under the impression the triple necks were less common than that.

Triples are less common than D8's for sure. Capsule Music in Toronto, has had one on their website for months, at $799. Doubles are more popular due to size and weight issues, I would guess. And six string lapsteels are the most popular of all...Jerry

Thanks for the info. Went to their site and, lo and behold, behind the T-8 pictured are two D-8s! Guess that illustrates the point. Now if they only had an S-8 of the same type and vintage. That seems to be the hardest to come by.
