How many of you are going to Bettytown, Ireland for the festival? I will be there. Don't worry, I won't be playing. Peter

Ted, I'll be there. Maybe I have to bring my thicker wallet if you have some pedal steels at your stand

I just had a steak dinner while listening to Peter's CD, "Tunes From Heaven", Tonar Från Himlen.
Truly heavenly. I swear that my steak is digesting easier
Every track is a great piece of understandable pedal steel guitar. By 'understandable' I mean that here we have a collection where the artist plays the song in a straight-forward way. It is aimed at the crowd, not just other steel players. The arrangements are all of the type where you just want to hum along ..or sing along if you know the lyrics, and most of us know the words to these old gospel favorites. Peter, you surprised me with the first track..here is a song that I haven't heard since I was a child. The third cut, "He Will Open the Pearly Gates" was played in such a way that upon hearing the tune, the words came back to me. I swear Peter made the steel sound out the words. Great work my friend!
I am sure y'all would want to listen to this collection. Just email Peter through this forum and he will send you a CD.
Now, to some more to-the-point stuff...

Peter, quit it! This is either false modesty or you are really an expert at bringing yourself down.
You
are a good steel player, no doubt in anyone's mind once they hear your CD.
Stop this self defeat once and for all. I, for one, wish you would be playing at the Irish Festival. People deserve to hear you, and you deserve, and have a duty to be heard. Good luck my friend. Sorry for sorta hijacking your thread, but your words gave me inspiration to write what I did.
regards,
Bent

Bent, thank you for your kindness, you posted it just the way I told you.
Seriously, when I read your post, a certain song came to my mind. Way back in the 80's I had the opportunity to back up the late Doyle Holly, bass player for Buck Owens, during his trip to Finland. A song that he performed was "I'm not ready yet", which pretty much explains my situation. Peter

Bent, your ears don't fool ya. Peter is an exceptional musician who's artistic ability impresses me ten fold. I say this because I have had numerous web cam calls to witness first hand, how well this guy picks. Ya know, before I met Peter, I was told he was shy and he felt his ability to communicate in English was a tad sub standard. Turns out, he has a better command of my native tongue then I do. And he picks his Finnish rear off too! Geez, back to the drawing board....There must be something about the water over there, it has to be!!! There is a sale on Finlandia Vodka by me, and IV's are really cheap, an alternative I must consider.

Gary, Thanks for the words of support for Peter. It must mean a lot for him to have a picker of your stature say those things.
You're so right; our ears don't fool us. We know what we know when we hear what we hear.
To tell the truth I don't know if it's in the water or the vodka. Whatever it is, Scandinavia is sure cranking out the great steel players!

I don't know what to say except THANK YOU for your kind words.
Gary, cheers. I guess you were half way through a bottle of Finlandia when you wrote your post.
Bent, too bad that Finland is not a part of Scandinavia. I wish we were.
Wolfgang, fine looking guitars you have. I will take a closer look when I stop by.

What time on Saturday is the first performance?
Maybe Mr Nesbitt could shine a little light on that?

Hey Peter, It's close enough..you live right next to Sweden, you speak Swedish. That's close enuff for me. Main thing is that we are brothers and neighbors in this steel guitar thang

The show starts at 11:00 on Saturday. I know this is an "unearthly" for us musicians but I would advise you all not to be late. I'm reliably informed that the opening artist is well worth the effort. I'm looking forward to meeting you all there and I can't wait to hear David live !
