I dearly love Gibson esoterica. I also love Gibson lap steels. The Gibson early postwar era (WW2) is somewhat a mystery to me. I'm pretty clear on the postwar lap steels, but some of the amplifiers of that era are still somewhat of an unknown to me.

The first question is:
This amp looks just like the prewar EH-150 with a different cover.
2nd question:
Is there a Gibson BR-3?

That old Gibson on Ebay is certainly pristine.
I have a Gibson from the mid 30s which may be one of their first models. It has 4 coke-bottle shaped tubes and a 10 inch speaker with no mfgr's name on it. It sounds quite good too, after I repaired the speaker.
It has the same handle as the tweed one pictured.
No volume or tone control, and no switch. Just plug in and play  |
