Has anyone had good success with this pickup?

I'm looking for something to put on my Republic Tricone. I realize that it will not have the richness and complexity of a good mic, but for open mics, it's way easier to plug in than to try to get the people running it to get a decent tone without feedback. Plus, it's a big time saver. I'd go Highlander, but I don't have the extra 200 clams.
If my reso was a vintage National, I'd still go with just mic, but since it's not, I'm not opposed to sticking one of these on there, or cutting holes in it.
Thanks! _________________ Todd James Weger --

I've put one on a Johnson squareneck tricone, and it works just as you describe. Plug into a guitar amp and go. It does not feed back easily, drives effects pedals nicely, etc.
I have a Schatten bridge transducer on the same guitar, and it sounds more like a reso, but is not nearly as loud and full.
The Lace "adhesive" is clear and rubbery, and can be peeled off with no residue left on the metal body at all. I ran the wire down thru one of the soundholes to a 1/4" jack on the lower bout for a semi-permanent mount. |
