My daughters band is in need of a walk on PSG player on occassion. Our regular steel player is a forum member (and actually introduced me to the steel guitar and the forum) but due to his job there are shows/dances that he will not be available to play.
The band plays mostly classic country with some selections in the areas of western swing, modern country, and classic rock.
We pay walk on performers $75 per show up to 45 miles from their home. We also provide a mileage stipend of $.30/mile for miles 46 - 75 and $.50/mile for miles 76+.
The steel player must be comfortable with turning the amp toward themselves (and away from the audience) if they choose to use it as a monitor (they will be going thru the sound system). If the steel player wishes to use his/her amp for a monitor, he/she must also have the ability to keep their volume at an acceptable level on stage.
Anyone interested should contact me directly thru the forum message system so that we can set up a time to get together.
A few names keep coming up when I ask about steel players; Tuffy Baker from around Effingham, IL and a guy called Spider from around Alton, IL .. to date I have yet to get contact info on either of these gentlemen. If either of them are forum members and you are interested in helping us out.. let me know, if they are not forum members but someone knows how to get ahold of them I would appreciate that as well.
I actually have received multiple names, but these 2 seem to fit best as neither are big drinkers and both seem to love the music/crowd from what I have been told.
Thanks,
Don Roach
