Matchbox scratching PSG leg - solutions?

The plastic leg clamp on my Matchbox is putting scratches in the chrome on my PSG leg. I wonder if anyone has a cure to prevent this.
(This is the first guitar I've owned that was clean enough for me to worry about this.)

Green Felt cloth with sticky backing ??

Maybe you can find a sheet of that thin green felt - cloth with the sticky backing at maybe a dry goods or hardware store ?? It's not very thick . Just cut a piece to fit on the leg grip , pull off the paper backing and stick it on the Matchbox leg grip and that would do the job of protecting the chrome !! Good luck !! Eddie "C"

It seems to me that felt will retain little specks of dust as much as the surface of the plastic leg clamp. Also would increase the pressure. So it may or may not help. I guess I could try it.

John,

I've used this several times, it always seems to work for me. Get the 2" wide Velcro that has a self adhesive backing, use the Loop side, NOT the Hook Side and place a piece inside of the clamp that attaches to the leg. The Velcro Loop material can be cut to any size or shape. I clean the part it will stick to with a solvent that does not leave a residue. Like I said, it works for me. I change it as needed.

First used it on the bottom of my wifes nicknacks that were scratching expensive furniture. Worked like a charm.

Wrap a piece of clear plastic "package tape" around the leg where the box mounts. It will prevent the clamp from rubbing and scratching the leg. (Replace it as necessary - whenever it looks bad.)

John: Email me your mailing address and I'll send you a replacement plastic clip/clamp to attach to your MatchBox. You can simply drill holes in the plastic extrusion I'll send you and mount it to the side of your MatchBox. I'll send you enough material to even make an extra clamp. Problem solved.
