Just saw Chrissy Hynd of the Pretenders play a new song on the Today show. The intro and most of the lead was played by a steeler on a double-neck no-peal steel. Very nice work. Smile

Outstanding. A lady of taste. Always has had great players. Like to hear them again.

That is Mark Spencer with the Pretenders last night on Letterman. Mark lives in Brooklyn, NY via Vermont. He's done a lot of work with Jay Farrar solo and with Sun Volt and a ton of other people over the years.

Must have been the guy I saw with Jay Farrar a few years ago. He played a single neck 6 string lapsteel and was very tasty and toneful.

Eric Heywood's playing pedal steel on her new album as well. She has good taste in steel players!

Wow, she still sounds (and looks) great! It's hard to believe she's 57.

(edit: after thinking about what I typed here, I should say that what I'm talking about is the fact that she still sounds exactly like she did when she was first coming on the scene back in the late 70's...)

I thought Eric Heywood was supposed to be "in the band"...maybe he couldn't make it for this show?
