Thanks for posting that link, Michael. Unfortunately it doesn't contain a lot of useful information. The entire article can be summed up here:
There's a better discussion of recording techniques for resonator guitars on the Electrical Audio Forum. If you only have one good microphone to record with and want a full, blended sound rather than one that’s heavy with either treble or bass, place the mic further away from the guitar and in a position that accurately reflects the full tone of the instrument.

miking a reso
Point a Shure 57 or equivalent at the lower edge of the cover plate from above at about a 45 degree angle. Adjust distance to suit, but 8 to 12 inches works pretty well.

I know his tips are for a live situation, but Bob Brozman's miking techniques might be helpful.

Condenser Mic For Resonater Guitar
I USE A SHOTGUN CONDENSER MIC ABOVE THE COVER PLATE (PAST MY HAND AT ABOUT 4 O'CLOCK & 2-4 INCHES FROM THE PLATE). IT IS POINTED DOWN AT ABOUT VERTICAL. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET IT TOO CLOSE TO THE STAGE MONITORS (FEEDBACK). THANKS, CHARLIE (I PLAY AN OMI 7 STRING.)
