I'm looking for a pair of small, decent sounding monitors to go with a PC/Digial Recorder setup. Something better than computer speakers but reasonable and small. Should be powered, too.

Like these, maybe? :

thx

Bob, they look pretty good, also check out M-Audio products. They start at around $135.

I have a pair of SP-5's I believe they are 40 watt rated. I sometimes practice thru them too.

I did a few YouTuBe video's and played thru them on those video's !

There's lots of folks offering similar Near Fields now for less than I paid for mine too Sad

Did you buy a recorder ?

Almost Smile

Leaning towards the BR600 but love all the features of the Korg for less money (more complicated, tho)

Almost ??

Does that you mean you went into the store, picked one up, headed for the counter, then put it down in another department on the way to check out ?

Don't forget, the BR600 is portable..you can take it to work with you Smile

Or if you take your family out to dinner, you can run out to the car and lay down a vocal track before they serve Cake and Coffee Smile

Another thing, there are countless guys on the forum that can work and record in the BOSS format which makes fooling with other players across the NET possible. Perhaps not recommended but at least possible !

PS, Guitar Center will bargain with you if they know you are serious. Maybe not all that much but they plucked off $30 when I bought the Micro BR after sweet talking them of course...

I can't afford to go out if I buy one Rolling Eyes

I have a BR8 and a Micro BR, both use the same file structure.

I still need to know the difference between the 600 and the 864!

br864

BR600
http://www.roland.com/products/en/BR-600/index.html

--------------------------------------------------------

Personally I would get the BR600, it is the NEWEST model and has the two on board mics and the drum pads if needed. 8 faders vs 4 faders..thats a plus right there...both are USB and SD cards...both record two tracks at a time...one is $300 less...I would have bought one of these instead of the Micro BR if it recorded in MP3 format as well.

I would not worry about the XLR MIC inputs as a small mic tube preamp is pretty much a must anyway...

I didn't realize you were a Pool pro Smile

8 ball, 9 ball, straight ?

It actually looks like the 600 has more features; touch sens. rhythm pads, voval pitch correction (curious how well that works!) more faders, etc.

I can get a factory Roland 684 refurd for $300 so it would be less $$

thx

Bob,

Perhaps this, from Brad Sarno, fits your description . . .

Thanks, I saw that. If Brad says it, I believe it Smile

I'm hoping for powered speakers and a bit smaller.

Anyone familiar with KRK V4 Series 2?

My local "Brad" highly recommends them.

Bob, I would highly recommend the M-Audio BX5-A's I'm on my 2nd set (dropped one of the original ones about 20 feet and it wouldn't work and m-audio sent me a new set for free they were over a year old) of them and I love them for the money you probably wont find any better quality. Unless you're mixing a lot of Bass laden music such as Hip Hop or Rap and the like type of music forget about needing a bass extension. For Country, Jazz, Swing, Rock, Blues and so on the bass response is great keep in mind they are set to be flat reference monitors not bass pumped and high frequency bumped.

They are very flat and will give you a very true representation of your music.

Bob
