Someone posted this video of Arty Hill and The Long Gone Daddies at the Johnstown Folk Festival last Sunday. I'm sitting at a pedal steel but playing the C6 neck with no pedals on this tune.

sounds good, but i wonder..if you can play that well without pedals, why not add some pedal depth to it to make it even better?

sounds good, but I wonder also....if you can play that good without pedals, why haul all that extra weight around?

I do use the pedals on the E9 neck. I also use them on the C6 neck, just not as often.
Most of my gigs are on dobro and 8 string lap steel. Arty Hill does a lot of straight country stuff that calls for pedal steel, though on tunes like this one I’d rather do lap style with some distortion for a slide guitar sound.
