I have an 8 string lap steel and it has a fixed nut with cutouts for tha strings. I get a twangy type buzz when I play my high freq. strings. Any ananswers?

possibly the cutouts are wearing and the strings are at different levels.
A few years ago my dad was getting the same problem, he tried everything eventually I suggested "could it be that favorite bar you have using for the past 45 years"?

Hi, the twang is there either with or without the bar applied. I dont want to thin it is the string which is ernie ball nickel wound that I use often.

Hey Dwight, First check "all" the chords you are playing through, The most simplist problem could lie in the chord, second check you volume pedal (if you are playing through one), you may have a bad pot or if it is an electric pedal ,check your power chord. Third, check your amp, it may have a freak weak spot in it, fourth, check your pickup, it may have gone bad or have a wire loose, and finally if it is still doing it, the problem most be in the electric outlet your playing through. Hopes this helps
