It's a Craigslist ad in Delaware

It reads...

Selling a Franklin pedal steel guitar that I bought in Austin a number of years ago. Standard E9 tuning, has four knee levers and three pedals (room for expanding up to 6 pedals). Has a very nice sound but I never found the time to play it much. Includes case (a bit old but serviceable), plus I will throw in a set of fingerpicks and the steel slide and a beginner's book which covers tuning and getting started. $650 o.b.o., cash only, for pick up only

Wrong... Franklin was his first name. Stein was his last.

Haven't you ever heard of Franklin Stein?

For the price, it might not be that bad. It may be sturdier than most of the starter steels. I wonder what the undercarriage & changer are like???

Wish we had more info.

I answered the add and asked if he could send a close up view of the Franklin logo and also the undercarriage and he basically told me where to go. So I am sure it wasn't a true Franklin, which you can tell by looking at it.

Franklin Stein's neck was not only wide, he had 2 large bolts sticking out of the sides of his neck too! Laughing

Nevertheless....the model and looks do not tell you the tone is bad or not?It can have tone to die for.
I always say this......I'd rather have a steel guitar that looks like junk and has a good sound and function right then have an eye catcher that sounds like nothing.

One word of advise from my grandma.

"Never judge a book by it's cover".
