Well, a lot of y'all know the steel guitar I play known as "Redgold Beauty", the red and gold GFI Ultra D-10 with eight pedals and five knees, here's how it became known as "Redgold Beauty". after I bought it in 2004, a lot of players would come up to me at shows, and tell me, "Your steel guitar is a real beauty, so in 2006, I decided to give my steel a nickname, so she became known as "Redgold Beauty". I came really close to turnin' the GFI down when I was lookin' for a new steel, but once I bought the GFI known as "Redgold Beauty", I was so amazed! "Redgold Beauty's a wonderful steel and my best guitar.

Very interesting Brett, thanks for sharing. I haven't named my Mullen, but maybe I will. I just call my Carter Ole Red.

Thanks, Brett. I had often wondered how that nick-name came about. It's good, descriptive name for your truly beautiful steel.
I heard you sing and accompany yourself on steel awhile back. Good job; something I have never been able to do.

Great axe!
Before I bought my Wiliams I had a GFI. Those guitars are smooth as glass!
Red Gold Beauty reminds me that I have to come up with a nickname for my guitar....hmm....

Well, now ya gone and done it Brett. We all are going to have to come up with nicknames. Although I sometimes call one of mine "You piece of Crap" (Blue Sho~Bud Professional), I still love her. Just having issues changing it to Day setup.
Anyway, that is a pretty guitar. It's always nice to see you on the forum. I would love to meet you also, but my chances of ever getting to the east coast or to one of the shows is slim to none.

I already have nicknames for my steels. I call the green one "the green one" and the white one "the white one." I alternate between calling my purple millennium "the purple one" and "the Millennium."

Brett with his condition, gives hope to anyone who wants to play steel. He's like a guiding light. And his dedication to learning the history of the PSG and who plays with who is simply a heart warming experience. I am glad Brett has blessed our lives with his presence here.

Mike , I love the easy simple way you name your guitars. from what I have learned you have several and It could be difficult to come up with heartfelt names for them all.
I have a black legrand 11 , and it has several names depending on how well things are going at the time.
Reminds me of the family who even after four weeks couldnt agree on a name for their new puppy, so they ageeed in the end to call it " DOG " .
Brett, I think you are one of the lucky people who found a name for your guitar Naturally ,your thread has had me thinking about a name for mine and you know it is not easy to come up with one .
MMM? Maybe cos its black I could call it Darth or vader cos it can be evil to me sometimes ....no that would be unfair , and black beauty was a horse. mmm!! four legs each , black ? now just maybe im on to something here.

Ah, thank you, Donna. "Redgold Beauty" and I are now workin' on more material. In November, we will be playin' the GaSGA Superjam in Atlanta, Georgia. She still sounds beautiful like she always does and still looks amazing always.
