Jimmie Crawford

Post by Marcel Parijs »

Find a clip from Radney Foster with a Haggard song "The Running Kind". Looks Jimmie Crawford plays the steel. He's was for me a great man and a fantasic player and guitar builder in the Steel world. I saw him a lot of years ago in Holland. We must remember him.

I hope you like this clip.

Jimmie was alot more than just a GREAT steel guitarist and master builder. He had a big heart and sort of took me in a few years ago at a time when I really needed it. And it wasn't just me... he would do anything he could to help someone. Full of compassion, humility and a role model in so many ways. Also, couldn't help but laugh when you were around him.

Though I couldn't find the specific song credits, unfortunately Jimmy is not credited on the Tribute to Merle album that this was taken from (the video is a video lip sync).

Steel credits includ Hank Devito, Sonny Garrish, Weldon Myrick, Jeff Peterson, Joshua Motohashi, John Hughey, and Bruce Bouton.

Anyone know who played on this track?

I think Radney must have had a bee or something in his pants during this video. He looks very uncomfortable.

Buck : Could you help us out on this particular clip; was this actually Jimmie playing? Whom ever it is ; in my opinion, it's fantastic pickin; and Radney really sings a fine country song. And , I , too , think our man , Buck , is one fine steel guitarist. Lyle is most fornunate to have his talent working with him.. Glad you got to be friends with JIMMIE, such a grand man , BUCK..Bernie

This is Jimmie Crawford during the 2 years or so he toured with Radney.
Looks like a video that was made for CMT or GAC.

A group I was playing in during this time period(1993-94) opened a concert for all these guys and I got to spend some time talking with Jimmie before the show. Got some nice pictures too.

If you pause this youtube clip on the last note of the lead guitar solo, you can clearly see Jimmie's smile and then his JCH pedal steel logo and his right hand technique.

I'd love to find the original video. Jimmie said he loved playing with Radney and after the tour ended, said he missed it alot.

Yes Marcel ... thank-you for posting this clip. Brings back such great memories of Jimmie.

I contacted the person who posted this clip and was informed that,"The clip came from a "Japanese" Laser Disc called Radney Foster Labour of Love".

It seems like the only way to find this disc maybe is to contact Radney Foster ..............
anyone else, please chime in on this one.
