"Steel Guitar Heart Attack"
The pedal steel/Hawaiian wizard, who has contributed his alternately swashbuckling and swoony stylings to recordings byamong others-- Calexico, Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Giant Sand, Sally Timms and the Waco Brothers, lets fly his third CD, Steel Guitar Heart Attack. Hitting all the hotspots and g-spots between Harlingen and Honolulu, Jon and his band (featuring Calexico and Jons longtime guitarist/ co-conspirator Tommy Connell) swing, sigh, giggle and charm their way into even those with hearts of tar. Features vocal tracks from Neko, Kelly Hogan, Sally Timms, and Rachel Flotard of Visqueen. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

URGH. Of course, I'm out of town this weekend!
I love his work on Neko Case records... Is his solo stuff good too? |

He also worked with a band called the Grievous Angels, I believe that was his intro to the Bloodshot family. |

I saw him with a rhythm guitarist playing as a duo at Exotica in Chicago at Fitzgerald's. They were GREAT! Would love to catch him with his band sometime.

I too like Jon, his styles are unique, I saw him and got to talk to him at a live concert when he was with his band up in Cleveland Ohio, all the women singers in the band did a fabulous job singing for him, his single neck MSA 10 string held up to anything he gave to it, I would like to hear him on his national steel. |
