When someone asks what's your favorite[song, guitar, artist, etc] every one will list several,TRY this with just ONE AND ONLY ONE,Remember no cheating,JUST ONE. What is your favorite song or tune,Be it jazz, country, pop, rock, bluegrass, folk,[no rap, that don't count] It's hard I have so many, but will have to go with STARDUST.DYKBC.

Shadow Of Your Smile. I have about 20 recorded versions of it, guitar, steel, sax, and piano.

M-m-m-m . . . There are several Uilleann (pronounced ILL-in) pipes tunes that fill the bill for lovely and haunting melody, but my favorite song might be Borderline Blues, by Bill Payne and Shawn Murphy of Little Feat. It's a song about their old friend, Neon Park, who died very young from ALS. BTW, it lays on the pipes very nicely, too, as well as on anything "slidey" like dobro or psg.

Me too Charles...Stardust I played a guitar insturmental version for years and now I am trying to get a steel version going, mixing tab from Mick d`s site and from Doug Beaumier. Cool steel insturmental versions: Robby Turner, Steel Guitar by moolight, and Maurice Anderson, Steel with Brass. With the extensive Swing series with Buddy and Ray Pennington, I thought they would have covered it. Has any body heard a Buddy Emmons version? Jim

"I'll Stand By You" - the original version by the Pretenders, not any of the covers.
Chrissie Hynde wrote this with Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg.
Great lyrics, melody and chord changes.
The song conveys a degree of devotion, support and acceptance from one person to another that you almost never see.
Unconditional love and acceptance of a woman for a man.
Chrissie Hynde delivers it like no one else ever could.

Have you heard B.J. Cole's lovely steel guitar recording of this? It's on his "transparent Music" CD.

Like Richard, my favorite changes constantly.

That's easy: The Shannon Waltz as done by Buddy Spiker, or Dick Barrett. I would love to hear Stuart Duncan play that tune.

I am actively seeking someone to play it at my funeral... Trouble is, booking a gig like that is kind of hard since I can't provide an exact date.
