| I saw an old clip recently of Kitty Wells on some TV show, doing "Honkey Tonk Angels" and the steel player looked like a young Woody Allen - thick glasses and kinda "acedemic" looking. He played I guess an old Sho Bud, natural finish with a hand of cards on the front. Sounded great. Anybody know who this was? |

| I rather suspect it was a Fender 1000, the one I used to own. (And it did have a Sho~Bud decal on the front.) When Stu first played with Kitty, he played the Fender 1000, then he switched to an Emmons, around 1965. In 1966, he left Kitty and went with Ray price for a short time, still playing the Emmons. You can see Stu playing the old Fender w/Kitty in the movie "Second Fiddle To a Steel Guitar", which is still available on VHS. |

aaaaah yes, those were the days when you heard the intro, you knew right off who was playing.

I think I remember you said that 1000 went from Curly to Weldon, to Stu, to you. I also remember the nite Weldon played his first Sho-Bud the first time. Augusta Ga., with Bill Anderson, don't remember the date.Weldon had just traded the 1000 to Shot, and picked up the Bud on the way out of N.ville.
