I used to race vintage cars here locally in Portland, roadraced a 65 sunbeam Tiger then went to a 67 Corvette roadster. Sold them in 2000. anyway a guy I met here locally was Larry Newman, he was a real engineer and built top notch GT-1 race cars. I just got off the phone with him telling him I got a pedal steel and was going to learn to play it. He said he worked for Sierra guitar company in the early 70's. When he got there, everything was in a shambles as far as producing these guitars in a structured manner. He completely streamlined the process for them. Said he worked there for a few years. It was interesting. Larry is now an engineer for Freightliner here in Portland.
