Could larger rare earth (neodymium) magnets be used to remag horseshoe & string through magnets?

Rick Aiello makes magnets for string through pickups, and remags horseshoes. His Supro style magnets are unbelievable.

I was actually trying to come up with an alternative to bothering Rick with what has to be an endless amount of tedious work for him (just dealing with the shipping has to be a pain).

Using NIBs is fine for standard alnico pole pieces in a conventional pickup.

The big problem is the size of the NIBs needed (for either trying to do a horseshoe or Trap) ...

1) They would need to be so big to cover the entire poles surface ... and NIBs that large can actually crush bones ... if allowed to snap at each other, with your finger in the way.

2) You can't let the magnet being charged ... physically contact a NIB that size ... or you will have a very difficult time pulling it off.

You will end up sliding them off ... and that maneuver will set up some real "funky" domain alignment and muti-poles.

The successful NIB chargers ... all have the NIBS secured (very tightly) to the jaws of a big vise ... then wooden spacers used ... to prevent actual contact of the magnet with the NIB.

The jaws are then tightened ... flux density builds as distance decreases ... which charges the alnico rod suspended via the wood blocks ... between the poles of the NIBs.

Thats why electromagnets are used ... especially for horseshoes or any irregular shaped large magnet.

Position the magnet to be charged in the appropriate fixture ... throw the switch ... 0.03 second later ... done.

Kill the juice ... pull the magnet off ... straight off .... the electromagnets fixture ... bingo.

I've had to remag MANY horseshoes and Traps ... cause folks tried to do it themselves with little NIBs from Stew Mac, etc.

Just send them to me ... I have the fixtures ...

I've remaged over 200 sets to date (I keep records) for folks ...

NO CHARGE (pun intended) ... but most send a donation to b0b for the service.

Return shipping costs are appreciated though.
