Kelly Joe Phelps lap sliding these days?

To my delight I noticed a poster in a bar last night stating that Kelly Joe Phelps is playing at an intimate venue here in Brighton, less than two weeks from now! I've got tickets now, and I'm really looking forward to this show (two days after Bob Brozman's lap slide workshop in London - good days for lap sliding!

).

I've heard that Kelly Joe is not playing so much lap style these days though. Has anyone seen him in concert recently? Is he still playing any lap slide at his shows? I hope so! Will be great to see him play either way though.

Kelly has reduced his use of lap slide quite a bit for recording, but in an interview he clearly said that certain songs were written with slide in mind and I can't imagine he will avoid it in live performance. You are really lucky to be seeing him, I have been trying to catch him for 2 years and haven't managed it yet.

Maybe I should bring a lap steel to the gig in case he would be tempted to do a few slide tunes?

I saw him a couple of months ago at the Pick-A-Thon here in Portland. He played no slide whatsoever. It was a good show.

Wasn't there myself, but a guy I know saw him play in Santa Cruz recently-no lap slide.
