Howdy y'all,
Does anyone know if Lloyd Green has made any live performances anywhere in the past 3 years? If so, I sure would appreciate getting a copy of the music, and will gladly pay for your time and costs. It would mean a lot to me.
Kindest regards,
Dave

Lloyd played a CD release
gig in Nashville with songwriter Peter Cooper a few months ago. I do not know if any recording was done on the show, but Cooper's "Mission Door" CD has Lloyd on almost every cut, in rare form (Lloyd co-produced as well). Not Live, but quite recent.

Does anyone know if Lloyd has performed in St. Louis over the past few years?

I received the Peter Cooper CD and, especially on the cut "Wine"- Lloyd might as well be playing right in front of you. He is one of the few players that plays such unique phrasing that makes his sound totally unmistakable- and beautiful.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely get the new album you guys mentioned... thanks.
Lloyd is one of my favorite artists. I was hoping that Lloyd had performed live in St. Louis over the past few years or elsewhere, and that someone had recorded it.
Thanks much

As far as the original question, I know of 3 shows Lloyd's done with Peter Cooper in Nashville in the past 2 years: two at the Station Inn and one at the Recital Hall at Vanderbilt University (there may of been others). I was fortunate to have been at all three of those; needless to say they were all very inspiring lessons in touch, tone, musical intelligence and soul...
FWIW here's a link for buying the Peter Cooper CD. Of the CDs for sale on this site Lloyd is also on the Fayssoux Mclean Cd (lots of great Lloyd dobro) and one track on the "East Nashville" compilation features Lloyd doing a great long solo with Chely Wright on a song that's been mentioned on the forum several times (Wish Me Away).
And the "Last Train Home" CD and DVD for sale on this site feature forumite Dave Van Allen at his musically adventurous best...

I just missed Lloyd playing at the Station Inn back in March. If I had known earlier that he was going to be there I would have extended my holiday.

I just got an email from Mr. Green himself; he asked me if I would mind forwarding this bit of info to this thread, so...
Actually, the normally reclusive "I" will next be playing live with Jerry Douglas at the Country Music Hall of Fame Ford Theater on August 19th. It is the preview for his new Koch Records cd "Glide" on which he and I play a real "duet", "Two Small Cars in Rome" which he wrote.
The steel and Dobro played in this fashion are, I think, a unique event. Although it's only one song together it was one of the highlights of my too long career.

Lloyd informed me earlier this year that his days of doing steel guitar shows are over. I think he gets more of a buzz out of what he does best - backing up other artists with his unique flair for playing exactly what is required. No-one does it better.

I greatly appreciate Lloyd's response... with much thanks.
I've already ordered Peter Cooper's CD. I eagerly await the "Glide" CD, and if anyone attends the August show, I'd love to get a copy if it is recorded.
Thanks to all,
Kindest regards

I have enjoyed the CD so much that I am now distributing it from the shop- Peter seems to be a great guy and his songs really take me on a journey like I'm hearing a story that I'm a part of- especially the Hank Aaron song.

Llloyd is all over a new album by Jeffrey Steele

Jeffrey Steele has a website where you can purchase an album called Countrypolitan. It is one great album recorded with analog equipment like they used to do and has many songs on it like most good steel players would like to hear. Lloyd is on all the cuts except one and Russ Paul is on that one cut of Night Life.
Lloyd plays most wonderfully and I just can't keep from playing most of the songs over and over. If you wish to hear Lloyd play, this one let's him play and the expressiveness is beyond imagination. He seems to blend so well with the singer and another surprise the famous songwriter Jeffrey Steele is a great country singer with a real warm tasteful voice. You will want to have this one for sure.

Go to the above site to click on Countrypolitan and purchase the CD.
