Take a listen at some island music by Konabob! Cool

And what do you say about that "Stick Bass?"

Konabob hosted HSGA steel guitar players on the Big Island at Kona for a steel guitar festival at Hilo Bay in May, 2007. It was a grand time.

I love that stickbass. I'm a member of the forum and plan to move there in few years. Bobs played with some legends over there.

I didn't know Konabob played steel, too. Very cool!

Love the Walkingbass. I believe Bob created and builds those, yes? IMO, this old-style hapa-haole music needs that upright tone to sound 'right,' at least to my ears. The Walkingbass gets amazingly close to that wonderful 'thump.'

Cool

Todd, he certainly does make those "stick" basses.
They sound like half way between a stand up acoustic bass and a electric bass guitar.

Here is some interesting information about the walkingbass or "stick bass" as I call it, access to lessons, and audio visuals of Konabob playing with some Hawaiian entertainers Just hit the red with your cursor and a whole new world opens to you. Cool

Steve, Konabob has played with many top named stars. When they come to the Big Isle they ask for him. Playing the acoustic lap steel has been more recent for him, but he is now teaching the steel to the Island children and young people.

He is a great guy along with having a very nice wife. She plays the walkingbass when he plays steel.

i remember meeting Kona Bob and his wife at the NY Uke Fest a few years back. She paid me just about the nicest compliment anyone could ever ask for after I played a set there. Extremely nice folks; in fact, too nice, makes me suspicious. Winking Just kidding.
