This may sound stupid But If I put the same pot in both a goodrich and Ernie ball shoudn't they sound the same?

I will assume you have both adjusted properly so when full up the resistance between the top of the pot and the wiper is 0 ohms, if not that can certainly make a difference

There is also differences in shielding and stray capacitance between the various volume pedals that can affect the sound, the same way as it can with cables.

Hey Ricky, if your Ernie Ball is a 6166 that is fairly new, it may have circuitry inside it that allows you to change the pedal sensitivity. Look under the front lip of the pedal for a small switch. Try it in both positions. I had to change all three of mine when they came in.

I don't use them for steel because of the location of the jacks and the large size of the pedal. Also because there is no angle like my Emmons or Goodrich low profile pedals. I'm still dreaming about my first Hilton. I'm holding off cause I know I'll love it and I need about ten of them, LOL.

Check to see if that switch helps you out.
