I have just installed BIAB 2008 and now I find that I can't load any of the files I have on disc, apparently because they are .STY files. They work perfectly ok with BIAB 2007. Does anyone know how to fix this problem with out spending a fortune on conversion programmes. I have a disc full of rhythm tracks which John Davis gave me with hundreds of BIAB files on and I can't use those either. HELP PLEEZZ!!!!
Cheers Dave.

I don't know why you can't load them as there are .sty files in my BIAB 2008 folder on the hard drive. The .sty files are not "song" files, they are the rhythm files.

Thank you Jack,I don't think I'm explainig this very well. Yes the files I am trying to open are style files not songs. The .MGU & .SGU files open OK but not the .STY files I have on disc. I hope this may make more sense!
Cheers Dave.

I think you have to open them from the style picker, not the song picker. Try the 'open' button at the bottom of the style picker window. Or try copying them to the BB folder then rebuild the style list.

Try this:

From the main menu choose FILE

then choose FILE UTILITIES

then choose ASSOCIATE FILE TYPES WITH WINDOWS

This will open a window that asks "Would you like to associate Band In A box file types with BIAB"

Choose yes and let the program run. When it is done you should see your "new" styles in the style picker.

If you don't see your "new" style you may also need to do the following after doing the above utility:

From the Main Window left click on the small "STYLE" button just below the "SONG" button along the left side.

this will open a window that asks "For the first time . . . . . . would you like to find all styles . . . .

Choose YES and let this utility run.

BIAB should now recognize all your .STY files and be able to list them for your enjoyment.

Don't ask me why you have to do this . . but I seem to recall that anytime you just "copy" a BIAB file rather than "Install" it. You need to run the first utility and at times the second utility.

Let me know if it works. Cheers! Bo baker

Smile Glad to hear it worked. By the way, there is now a FREE update BIAB 2008.5 that you should download. Also many more REAL TRACKS instruments such as fiddle, banjo and others you can purchase for next to nothing. Also updated the Guitar, Sax and Pedal steel REAL TRACKS.

Pretty amazing stuff to me.

Blessings, Bo baker
