Does anyone have the complete tab of Lloyd Green's solo rendition of Farewell Party. I have Jeff Newman's and others, but not Lloyd's. Fred[/b][/u] |

Go to 1979 and you will find the tab for both the intro and break. |

Richard,
Thanks for the reply, but I have Rebel's intro and break. What I'm specifically looking for is Lloyd's complete SOLO tab on his "Revisited" album. Fred |

Jeff used that song as a teaching tool at one of his seminars,,,one of the many approahes he used for the song was an "as close as I can get it" to Lloyds version,,,I listened to the 2 side by side many times and could not hear 1 note difference,,,he was a great teacher,,and a player that could play anyones style and material,,could never receive the credit he deserved as a player,,,among the few who had truly MASTERED the instrument. |

Fred:
I don't have Jeff's "Woodshed Workshop" version, so I don't know what version is on it, but it is still available on the Jeffran Music web site. You might call Fran and just ask if it is close to LLoyds version.

John, I DO have Jeffs version (Woodshed Workshop) and to be quite honest with you and the gentleman who is looking for Lloyds Solo to "Farewell Party", Jeffs version is right on target.
I mailed Lloyd ( as my tribute to him ) a copy of the Intro, the exact fills with the solo and the ending lick to "Farewell Party. The intro in Jeffs version had some major "typos" in it so after listening to Gene Watsons recording of it numerous times I added the correct tab to what Jeff had written, plus I tabbed the fills ( 1st and 2nd verse ) just as Lloyd recorded them ( beginning with "There'll be flowers from those".) During the first part of the 1st verse, I tabbed some harmony to compliment the vocals. Jeff indeed tabbed the Solo correctly and I tabbed the ending lick as Lloyd recorded it.
I received a letter back from Lloyd and he clarified that the tab that I had written was accurate and correct. If you will E-mail me your postal address, I will be glad to send you a copy of that letter in case there might be some doubt as to the authenticity of Lloyds letter to me.
Just thought I would add my two cents to this thread

Thanks to everyone for your contributions. I do have Jeff's Woodshed tab book and CD and found exactly what you did Gregg. However, being relatively new to PSG {less than two years] and musically illiterate, I have racked my brain trying to compare and contrast the two side-by-side and convert Jeff's into Lloyd's. [Sorry Sonny] Unfortunately, I have a couple problems. First, I'm a tab player with NO ability to play by ear, yet. Also, I'm a stickler for note by note accuracy, and Lloyd's SOLO version on his "Revisited" CD is EXACTLY what I want. Now, Jeff's CD with tab is great, but is basically a back-up track/tab to a singer. Probably some of you can read between the lines and convert Jeff's to Lloyd'a, but unfortunately, I can't.
You know, I apologize for spending so much time bothering Forum members with this issue, but, as you can see, I'm on a mission, which I hope is not impossible. However, believe it or not, I'm still not giving up. [Where are you Lloyd? Help! Just kidding guys.} Respectfully, Fred
