No sooner had I made a joke in another thread about this seemingly unlikely possibility (no doubt utterly offensive to many here) than, to my amazement, there was a guy playing lead on a fuzzed-out lap steel with white rappers, The Lordz of Brooklyn, on Conan O'Brien last night. They were doing their current hit, "Where Brooklyn at?" If you had heard the song with no video, you probably wouldn't recognize that it had steel - it sounded like slide guitar with a fuzztone. Couldn't catch any brands, but it was a lap steel on a stand, no volume pedal, obvious fuzz box, through a head and half-stack. It was quite effective lead work, for the genre.

Any of you Brooklynites know who this was?
