I have an empty 410 cabinet...thinking of getting some Weber replacements, thinking I could use the cabinet for bass and steel. Any opinions or suggestions? I'm using an Alembic F2-b for the preamp. Thanks in advance. _________________ Mike

Sounds like it'll work, to me! The small cones will give you acceptable highs, and the 4 of them in a bass cab will give you the re-enforcement needed for good lows. Methinks sheer bulk is the only reason more players don't use this combination. |

The speaker choice may depend on the power amp and what you are looking for tone-wise, but Californias with paper dustcaps are my favorite Webers for clean tones and headroom. I've used 10's and 12's and they're great sounding speakers with a JBL-like clean but no icepick highs. _________________ No chops, but great tone

There is a difference between 10" guitar speakers and 10" bass speakers. If you're looking for a guitar-like tone out of your steel, then no, I don't think you can get a 4-10 cab that will do good double-duty between bass and steel. If, on the other hand, you like the sound of your steel through a 4-10 bass cabinet/amp combo, then sure, get yourself some bass speakers. _________________ Primitive Utility Steel |
