Has anyone used her Western Swing DVDs to learn on a 6 string lap steel? I know it's designed around 8, but how much of a handicap would it be for me without the other 2 strings?

It's not a problem at all. Overall everything she teaches on these videos can be performed on a six string steel tuned to C6th tuning.

She suggests dropping the bottom two string to use with a six strings but I find it better to drop the top and bottom strings leaving the low c. The two note cords on the high e and g can be found elsewhere on the neck.

On her website she shows a 6 string C6 tuning with a G on top, same with her 8 string tuning, with an A on the bottom.

I ordered both volumes of her course but they haven't arrived yet. I use C6 with an E on top, A,F on bottom, may have to crank my tuning around a bit.

I am sure the courses will be interesting, she is a first rate teacher from what I have seen so far.

I've heard that Bobbe Seymore has a course for the tuning you are using, JD. You may want to check him out.
