I am in no way a fan of new country anymore than anybody else on this forum, but I will give McGraw some credit on his latest, that I have heard. I think the title is "Like Krisstofferson would do". I guess I leave the radio on while I'm driving just to see if there is anything on worth listening to, and this caught my ear. I imagine it's Paul on steel, but whoever it is it made me think of Huey,in the middle, which is a compliment in anybodys book. Anybody else heard it? Doyle

It's probably Denny Hemingson, Tim's road steeler because Tim now uses his band, the Dancehall Doctors in the studio. The song is called "Kristofferson".

It's a damn fine song....the band is picking up. First time I've been excited about learning one of Tim's tunes.

THAT is a change from the old days in Nashville where the road band would never be "allowed" by the producers to record in the studio with the artist.

It's a nice song. Well written. Every now and then a tune shows up which is right from Country roots, Back When, is a tune we covered for a quite awhile. I can see us covering this Kristofferson tune, it's really nice, simple and to the point.

Regarding this new cd, there is a lot of nice music on it and a good deal of Steel licks.. I am not a huge Tim fan but not because of the songs or the lack of Guitars or Steel, I just find the drone of his voice gets old and each song to me sounds exactly the same as the last one. I personally do not think he is all that good of a singer. my view...

But, to his credit, he has a Private Jet and I have to take my shoes off before they will even let me get on an Airplane ! ( and bring my own peanuts now too )

Tim's song "Back When" features a lot of steel like his new song "Kristofferson" does. Another good song of his that features steel is one on his Tim McGraw & The Dancehall Doctors record called "I Know How To Love You Well" and also his version of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer". Both songs feature great steel played by Tim's road steeler Denny Hemingson. He plays an Emmons, and if you look on the album credits where he talks about the instrument companies, Emmons is listed!

Brett, on another post, Bob Kramer said that Red Lane wrote a song that is on McGraw's latest album. Did you notice if Red's name is on there? It might have been one previous to this. Doyle
