Warning!! Warning!! Warning!!
In case you're easily offended I mention this,
because there's Stars of David, Rosary Beads,
Crucifixion figurines, a Boy Scout Badge,
and a merit badge, little American flags,
purple hearts, and combat boots mentioned
in this song.
At this time of the year we veterans (WELCOME HOME GRUNTS) don't want to offend anyone's religion, beliefs, or invade your privacy.I've posted this qualification so you won't have to be exposed to these horrors and you won't have to listen to this RAGGEDY song. If you believe, I guess it's OK to clik on this website. You'll have to do your own scrolling, this Earthling doesn't know how to make it do that.

I saw a portable version of the Wall here in Macon, years ago. My son was walking with me and holding my hand. I don't know if he ever noticed the tears streaming down my face and I have never asked him. I was there and the memories just caught me off guard. As did this song. George has always been a hero to me for these sort of human renditions. BTW: I sent him a copy too.
Thank You !! Paul

Phred,
if this song offends anyone, I think they just need to move to somewhere where they'll never hear it. The boys that this song was written about had a lot more than their "feelings" hurt.
Thanks for posting it my good friend,
Winston

WOW Fred If that doesn't hit home, I don't know what would. I have a first cousin whose name is carved in that wall who left a newly wed wife to perform his duty in Viet Nam. I also lost a few comrades I served with while in the USAF in that era.
My dear brother was one of the lucky ones who came back standing up.
Working aircraft ground support on the west coast, I saw many come back in a C141 under a draped coffin.
On a happier note, I was witness to many more fortunate soldiers coming home on a 707 or DC8. As they exited the plane, nearly all of them would lie down and kiss the tarmac. True lovers and defenders of these United States.
My heart goes out to those who are missing their loved ones, especially at this time, for these and the lost heroes of all actions of any era.

Hey, That's a Jamie O'Hara song.
He was part of that group "The O'Kanes" in the late '80s, they had a big hit with "Can't Stop My Heart from Loving You", and he has written several great songs over the years.
One of his big hit's was "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Old Days)", that the Judds has a big hit with, and "Older Women" for Ronnie McDowell.

This is a well written website. Thanks Fred.
A ways down on that page is a picture that tore me up the first time I ever saw it. It is called 'Reflections' and you can get a better view of it here.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
