Regarding the Sho-Bro that was on ebay, is there any way to make a roundneck 6-string Sho-Bro sound like a metal body? Any pickups, sound processors, modifications?
I'm thinking that because a Sho-Bro sounds so unusual, it might be easier to make a Sho-Bro sound like a metal body than to make other wood body resos sound like a metal body. _________________ Steel crazy after all these years.

Sure. Replace the wood body with a metal body and your problem is solved.
Seriously, if you want the sound of a metal body guitar, buy a metal body guitar.

Brad,
Since the Sho-Bro was cheap, I thought I might be able to make it or another cheap wood reso sound as good as the metal bodies costing a lot more. For my rookie's ear, the metal bodies I've heard that cost under $1,000 don't sound so good. I thought with all of the modern pups and processors, I might be able to get a $1,000 sound for $500. Not possible?
And then without the pups or processor, I'd have Sho-Bro to use as a wood reso. Crafter's has a wood reso with a pip that can be made to sound like a metal body, but it's $3,500. _________________ Steel crazy after all these years.

Thanks, AJ. I hadn't heard of these. I listened to their sound samples, and it seems you are right. The cut from a movie soundtrack is too processed to tell, and I didn't listen to the uke etc, but the other samples sound excellent.
