I have an Artisan single neck that was donated to the Forum. I want to sell it but I don't know how much to ask. It's like new with a gig bag and three legs.
I think that these guitars have 3 big problems: the nut, the bridge, and the tuners. Replace all 3 and it would probably be a decent steel.
How much is one of these worth? _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I believe I got about $75 plus shipping for the one I sold on ebay a few months ago.

Susan and I both bought one of them from Musician's Friend about two years ago and they were 59.95 each with the gig bag but no legs...I think later on they had legs and sold for 79.95. |

Hi b0b, It looks like the Rogue EA-3 Lap Steel has replaced the Artisan EA-2 Lap Steel at Musiciansfriend at $79.99 for Rogue EA-3 with Gig Bag and 3 adj Legs. Same guitar, different name. |

Thanks, Gene. I think their quality must have slipped a couple of notches since you posted that. Or maybe this one was from a different batch. This guitar doesn't sound nearly as nice as the one you recorded. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

The early Artisans had really cheap tuners which wouldn't stay in tune, and no legs. At the time I bought two, changed the tuners, put risers on the nuts, and bolted them together, and it made for a cheap D6 to carry around in my trunk. I bolted them to a music stand so that I could play them standing up.
Then about a year ago they came out with much improved tuners and legs. I believe you must have one of the earlier models.
I would estimate the value used at about $40. Ironically, one went on eBay about eight months ago for a ridiculously high price to someone who obviously didn't know what he was bidding on. There was a thread on the Forum at the time, and everyone was both bemused and astonished.

One other problem I have noticed, is the "fret markers" are hard to see. One of my students had an Artisan and the freboard was black with not enough contrast to see the markers.
Also the short scale length made intonation difficult for a beginner.
