-not sure if this topic has come up just yet, so here goes..
Lloyd Green's performance on the newish' Peter Cooper disc entitled, "Mission Door" is outstanding. The intro to the opening tune, "Boy Genius", is worth the price of admission. (It's an intro that combines, slides, bends, and open strings, ...I think) Overall, the disc is a fairly modern, Americana recording, singer songwritery, with thoughtful lyrics conveying short story like narratives and images, a rambling range of feels, arrangements, and instrumentation,
--and- lotsa the high quality, deeply integral musical parts and solos from Lloyd. ---there's even some dobro parts too.
the artist is Peter Cooper, co-produced by Lloyd Green
the album is caled "Mission Door"
and it's on Red Beet Records

Red Beet records is also the home of the band "Last Train Home", which features great steel by our esteemed forum brother Dave Van Allen... Here's a link:

There's rumors of another Peter Cooper album coming soon, also co-produced by Lloyd and with mostly just the two of them; steel, acoustic guitar and vocals with just a touch of other instruments. Can't wait to hear that one!

More Lloyd Green tips: The "Music from the Other Side" CD advertised on the website features an incredible duet with Lloyd and Chely Wright (produced by Peter Cooper with just guitar and steel); "Wish Me Away"... Some really fine Lloyd playing on that one too! And the "Fayssoux" CD has some really nice Lloyd Green dobro on it ...

Hey, Stu, I know that's not true; I distinctly remember moose and grizzly bear! Saw a moose close up on the trip where you and I hung out and a grizzly TOO close up on the next one... I also seem to remember some really good musicians, really nice folks, and some great bars! I'm way overdue for another trip up there, what a beautiful place...

Oh yeah, the topic... anyone seriously into Lloyd Green; you owe it to yourself to check out Peter Cooper's CD; like Al says, Lloyd gets a lot of space to play and it's really good... Cool

How about that mischief at 00:54 - 00:55 in "Wine?" Some kind of crazy, left handed bar slant, I assume.

-I'll stray a touch from the topic here, since Pete Finney has added some comments above, to direct a compliment his way.
Attaboys to Pete. Pete's work appears on the new Justin Townes Earle disc and is really fine. A different kind of thing from the Peter Cooper stuff--- a more intimate "bunch of guys in the same room" kind of vibe, rootsy feels, and Pete gets in just the right solos and fills to work really well with the flavors of the tunes.

-just listened back a few times to the section that Jeff has mentioned. Geez, it's gorgeous, technically brillant and gone in 3 seconds. The cat just gets cooler and cooler stuff down on disc these days.
