I could not make the convention is St Louis but I did hear some great dobro players this weekend.
Jim Heffernan friday night picking with Ivan Sexton & Friends.
Matt DeSpain from KY, playing his own DeSpain#001 with Bobby Osbourne and Rocky Top Express. This young picker flat knocked us out. His home made reso has tone to the bone and volume even backed away from the microphone.
BTW, Matt took the time after the show to talk a little dobro with me and show me his Brady capo, even gave me Elmers' card so I can get one. A fine player and a nice guy too!
