Thank you Charles. I appreciate the heads up, as well as your mentioning my first CD in the perennial favorites thread.
I hope everybody feels the same way you do when it's finally made available. The art work is taking longer than expected, and at this point it looks like the CD won't be out till June at the earliest. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Both the "OHM" CD's, the eponymous one and "Amino Acid Flashback." The guitarist Chis Poland was one of the early, dozen or so guitarists who've cycled in and out of the lead guitar chair with Megadeth - apparently founder Dave Mustaine is a wee bit testy or something? However, Poland's an old Mahavishnu head from way back, and this stuff is like what they'd be playing now if they'd stuck together? Maybe...
Poland is a master at effects and tone, he just doesn't sound like other guitarists, he makes no effort to collect the "big hit tones" and recycle them like Petrucci, Gilbert etc. He writes parts with a ring modulator, it's a gimmick to him like Jeff Beck's whammy bar is a gimmick to him.
The bass player Robertino Pagliari plays six-string fretless brilliantly, he's all intertwined in the compositions and often carries the melodies while Poland supplies atmospherics. They go through drummers pretty quick, I don't think instrumental fusion is exactly packing the stadiums like the old days. Have I mentioned I love this band? They're fiends....

Thanks for the heads up David re Chris Poland, who I always thought should be getting more recognition. Currently for steel: Theres Gonna be a Party: Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant, Great stuff! For rock: I am revisiting the 2 CDs put out by Burning Rain. They have a Killer singer by the name of Keith St John, if your in the mood for sassy in your face rock vocals, also the guitarist is Doug Aldrich. |

I'm not sure what you mean by current. I have hundreds of favorite CDs. One recent acquisition that I like a lot is Bob Dylan's "Modern Times".
Also, I've been playing A Splash of Aqua Velvet (featuring Forum member Jim Hoke) a lot. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I'm still not sick of Robbie Fulks' "Georgia Hard" disc. Lloyd and Redd at their very best. Robbie really shows off his ability to write a catchy little country ditty as well. Add this one to your collection.

Hello Mike, I like my (Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.) new Single on Young Country Records Called, " I'm A No Body ",not because it me,but, because of the Great Steel-Guitar Musician that's on it. If it wasn't for the Steel Guitar & this great Musician the song would just be another song. Tow song on this Single. The other is called " Chocolate City ". Again, because of the Steel Guitar & this great Musician on it,this song too would be just another tune. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. |

I truly love this thread! It's great getting listening ideas from other forumites.
My current faves:
The Weepies - Say I Am You (folk/pop duo; learned about them from Paste magazine, a monthly with a free CD of various artists, very good way to hear new music; good articles and graphic design, too)
It Just Comes Natural - George Strait. This album came out last year and has fantastic songs, production and Strait's always great singing. His new one, Troubador, suffers from very mediocre songs, I played it twice and haven't played it since, very disappointing.
Revisited - Lloyd Green. One of the best steel CD's ever.
The Next Step - Randy Beavers
Revolver - The Beatles _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION
