I just recieved a set of Acri Fingerpicks from Janet Davis Music and I love them! I've struggled with fingerpicks for years, never finding any I enjoyed wearing and/or playing with.....until now. These picks are COMFORTABLE! :D http://www.janetdavismusic.com/finpiks.html I'm glad I tried 'em. I was just about ready to abandon picks forever, but now I'm enjoying pickin' with 'em on. :) Wonders never cease.

I see they have Pro Picks also. I've been using those for a long time, after trying a variety of others.

Will the Acri picks stay on your fingers in all sorts of conditions?

After hearing about the Perfect Touch Picks produced by Rusty Thornhill on SGF, I decided to try them. I have not regretted that decision.

They were highly recommended by SGF members and they stated that Rusty was a good man to deal with. That helped in my decision.

I have found Rusty to be a perfect gentleman, willing to work with any problems that I encountered.

The picks are pricey. But after using them for well over a year I think they are worth the money - they do not slip off of your fingers as other picks have, and they are more comfortable than other picks.

There was an adjustment time for me in getting used to them because they fit higher on the finger than other picks.

To see approximately where they fit on your finger, I direct you to Rusty's web site:

I have noticed other websites are now selling the Perfect Touch Picks, i.e. Scotty's.

Aloha, :)
Don

A while back, someone posted about some expensive coated picks. Does anyone remember the name of those picks?

Thanks for sharing that Terry. I think I'll order a set, the picks I'm using now start to get painful after about 20 minutes.
Did you get the brass or stainless ones?

Don, yes the picks stay on very well. I tried Rusty's Perfect Touch also. They are much better than regular picks for comfort but I just couldn't get used to the shape and fit of them. For my taste, the Acri's are better all around. That is only my humble opinion of course. Picks tend to be very personal choice. I'm sold on the comfort, fit and playability of the Acris. Keith, I got both the brass and stainless. I liked the stainless ones so well I haven't given the brass set a good work out yet. I suspect they'll have a minimally milder tone. The brass feels a little warmer and softer than the stainless on the fingers.
John, you're probably referring to the cobalt coated picks. There are some of those on that Janet Davis page link. They also have gold plated fingerpicks for the really rich and famous

Pearse?

Anyone ever use the Pearse Stainless Steel "High Rider" fingerpicks? They look like they'd be more comfortable and stay on better to me.

Anyway, great link. Thanks!

I have been using Pro-Pik brass picks from Guptill Music for years and wouldn't change. Best picks I have ever used.

Good ol' cheap Nationals, worth more than gold (plated)

I still have the Nat's that Jerry handed me years ago, and after suffering the usual pains forever it eventually took the fun out of playing so I finally tweaked them to my perfection, and are now unnoticable, and stay on just fine.
It was easy, and they were free. I understand they are still cheap.

Terry...could you please tell me the guage of these Acri fingerpicks? I have been trying different guages and found the .013 the most comfortable ,all thou I prefer the tone of the heaver .025 A.J.

A.J.,
I'm going to guess here. My plastic micrometer says .020 on both the brass and stainless. It could be off a little though.

These are helping me with the transition from bare fingers to picks. I don't think I could have done it without these. Here is a picture I found at this link.

I got a set of the Acri picks and a thumbpick. First I'd like to point out that these FEEL great! They don't ride your cuticles, they are very secure, and they feel almost like they're taped on. I have the brass ones. They are quite attractive, as well; my wife thought I bought jewelry!
I hate the sound of picks, especially when trying to mute. I had no illusions about solving that with these. I did, however, find the brass to sound warmer and more natural, and the improved fit makes it easier for me to control them since they don't feel so clunky. Thanks for the tip!
