| Hi, My old Beyer dt 320's are getting a bit worn up and old. What does anyone recommend as a replacement these days? For monitoring country music of course.. DH |

| Not cheap, but I really like the Sennheiser HD580s and HD600s, sound great, very comfortable, not tiring. I haven't used them, but a lot of pro audio guys are talking about Ultrasones, might be worth a look/listen. |

I can vote for the sennheiser 280's if you're on a budget of 100.00 bucks or less. They are one of the best semi-pro headphones for under 100.00. Now of course there are many better sets but I don't think they can be had for this price.
So if money is tight I vote for the 280's. I've used them for a year or two and I have always been happy with the accuracy of these cans.

Another vote for the HD280. Very good phones at a reasonable price.

David, for my birthday last December my wife surprised me with a set of Sennheiser HD600..
In all the years I've been recording etc, I've NEVER heard as good..
RRP £270 + but can be got for £129

K 271 headphones
The new K271 Studio, while providing the same performance as the K 270 Studio, is much lighter and easier to use, and still provides a natural, pristine sound. The closed-back, circumaural earphones provide maximum attenuation of high ambient noise. The K271 Studio is also perfect for all applications where no sound must leak from the headphones. The headphones switch off automatically when taken off. Since this feature prevents headphone signals from spilling over into an open microphone it is highly appreciated by recording studios, for live sound, TV sound, and broadcast engineering.

| I just bought the AKG k240 to replace my aging old 240's as they are falling apart and the improvements seem good on them. Cord is now replaceable and removeable and the impedence has been knocked down to 55 ohms which helps the signal to noise ratio. Don't hear too much difference from the old ones on an A/B comparison. Oh yeah, they dropped down to $125. |

Koss has a great deal on their excellant open air Pro 35A headphones that go as low as $15, I've heard.
They are a tremendous value and hang with most anything for your basic listening enjoyment, and I'll bet they can do as well in the studio, to some degree. I doubt they are 'transparent', and probably have their own voice, but it's a good 'un, with fine low end.
Super comfortable too.
Got mine at Radio Shack for $25 |
