I figured out a cool swing tune off a Darrell McCall CD today, "Divorce Me C.O.D." (actually an old Cliffie Stone/Merle Travis tune). Either Dickie Overby or Rick Price did the steel...can't tell from the credits. I wanted to tab it out so I don't forget it (and maybe a few Forumites might also like it). Just wondering if there's any standard in C6 tab for referring to pedals and knees. As opposed to E9 where pedals are A, B, C, and knees are D, E, F, etc. are the C6 pedals commonly labeled 4 thru 8 (or do they start over as A, B, C, D, E) and are knees LKL, LKR, RKL, RKR, etc. or...? I realize folks have different setups especially on C6 knees but I suppose some sort of note on the tab would explain my setup...
Any thoughts are most welcome. Thanks for your help. |

In C6th tab the pedals are usually refered to by the numbers. usually 4 thru 8 |

Jeff, I usually just use L for lower, and R for raise, assuming it's a half tone. If it's a whole tone, I use LL and RR.
That way it doesn't matter where they have the change. So far, no complaints.

It's also important to note that the numbers for C6 pedals are usually put in parenthesis so they don't get mistaken for the fret numbers.

I've also seen pedals and levers written as P5, P6, etc. below the staff underneath the affected notes.
I personally find this method difficult to follow though as my eyes don't naturally look down there.

Thanks for the advice, guys. And Jeff, you answered my next question...I was wondering how to separate pedal numbers from fret numbers - the parentheses thing should do the trick. |
