Hi all of you!

Country-musician-friends of mine will travel to Orlando / Florida from 18.07. - 08.08.2008 and want to hear as much country-bands as possible. Would be happy to give some tips where and when you play in this area.

Looking forward for your replies.

Warmest regards... Thomas 8)

I played a few gigs in that area last year. All I can say is good luck finding any real country music there. Top 40 country rock and DJ Rap music is all I saw with a $10.00 cover charge.

Steel guitarist, Wally Murphy, is playing a club in the Orlando area called Post Time. It is north of town on Hwy 17-92. My son Herby Wallace III play drums in the band with Wally. They normally play on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Wally is one of the best steel players around, so I would highly recommend checking them out.

Hi Jim and Herby!

Thanks much for your fast replies. I will send them to my friends, who are countrymusicians here in Berlin too.

Herby, hope to see you again this year at Scotty´s convention.

The Post Time Lounge is on Rt 17-92 between Longwood and Winter Park. You might also check the Barn in Sanford and downtown Orlando for Doug Stock. Most of the clubs I played are gone now.

Doug Stock moved back to Iowa several years ago. He last worked the Opry Show in Eustis, Fl.

We have the Florida Steel Guitar Club but that meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, about 60 miles from Orlando, but not when the visitors from Germany will be here.

Thomas: Are you the one we met last year at the St. Louis Convention? Did you come over with Walter Stetner? We are about 45 miles from Orlando now. We can't find places to play around here either except for a jam in Bradenton. Herby's son is an excellent drummer. I know you will enjoy his band. Enjoy your vacation. Another thing I will add. Doug Stock and my son worked together at Church Street Station in Orlando until it shut down in 2001. I talk to my son regularly and he said that Church Street Station just recently reopened but did not hire a steel player. This doesn't surprise me as the same thing is happening here in the Pigeon Forge area with many of the shows. As far as I know, the club I mentioned with Wally Murphy is the only regular place in the Orlando area that uses steel guitar. That is pretty bad for a town of that size too.

Sorry, Larry, I didn't know you were working regularly in the Orlando area. Larry Danley is a friend of mine and an excellent steel player, so if you get a chance to hear him, I would suggest it.

Thanks much all of you for your replies. My friends are very happy about it.

Mrs. Laurie Ayres! Yes, it´s me, the guy who was at the convention last year with Walter Stettner. I´m so happy you don´t forget me
Walter and me will be there this year again and I´m looking forward to meet you again.

The Florida trip will do friends of mine, not me.

Warmest regards... Thomas :D
