AprilContinuousHour -Swingin' West- Mike Gross OnLine

Post by Mike Gross »

The April edition of the recorded continuous airing of "Swingin' West" has just come up on the Internet on twangtownusa.com. It will be on 24 hours a day seven days a week, over and over, for the entire month.

The theme for this month, April, is Gene Autry memories, Western Swing style. Among the sounds you will hear will be from CDs by Connecticut’s Nick DeMaio as well as Oklahoma’s Jim Garling, former Bob Wills vocalist Leon Rausch and California’s Loyd Jones Band with Jay Riley on Steel.

You will enjoy fantastic contemporary Western Swing bands such as John England and the Western Swingers and Lost Weekend with Don Burnham at the helm. Then out of history enjoy Autry memories by Billy Jack Wills, Jimmy Wakely, Doye O’Dell and Ken O’Rourke.

Also heard from the 1980’s are the Texas Panhandle Band under the direction of Hank Pell with Rick Martinez on vocal, Johnny Wakely and Charlie Phillips and the Sugartimers. Enjoy the legendary Louise Rowe with her wonderful band as well as Jim Stricklan bringing back an old favorite in a very interesting new dressing. The show closes with the fantastic River Road Boys doing the show closing theme.

The recorded edition of "Swingin' West" can always be heard by clicking the mouse on the appropriate spot on the bottom of the home page of the "Swingin' West" web site, www.swinginwest.com

Thank You!

Mike
Has another great show for this month.
I enjoyed some arrangements of some old standards that Gene Autry and others had hits with.
Tune him in for a good hour of western swing hits.
