Dobro-Bobro combo

A few days ago I bought a Bobro with the intention of using it on my SuperSlide, and in the process of playing with it I hooked it up to my OMI Dobro. YOW ! What a difference it made in the sound, and I'm only playing it through my Microcube amp! It brought out sound that I never would have suspected was in there, and the Dobro doesn't even have a Quarterman cone nor a bone nut. In fact, for a while I had been kicking around the idea of buying a better quality dobro-style guitar, but not anymore; the Bobro has probably saved me a couple thousand bucks ! I cannot say enough good about it, it's just great !

Marty Stewart plays a real Dobro electricley through a BoBro. It sounds incredible and makes it easy to amplify, along with really helping the tone of the "real" Dobro.

Yea, that Seymour guy knows what he's talkin' about!
BoBro is a contraction of the words, "Bobbe-Dobro". (but then again, most of you figured this out already)

Ed, thank you, and all of you. You guys keep this from just being a business. It's more like a "Band of Brothers".
HOF? Well, I appreciate this accolade also!

Sorry to be ignorant, but what is a BoBro ? Is it some sort of electric pick up for a DobBro ?
[This message was edited by Alan F. Brookes on 22 July 2006 at 05:35 PM.]

Alan, it's an effect pedal that goes between your guitar and the amp, intended to make a steel guitar have a dobro sound. But I learned that if you use it with a Dobro, it will enhance the sound of the Dobro. That is: E N H A N C E !

So, Ed, you're saying it works like one of those little pills they're always talking about?

Thanks Bob, I'll do that. But a secret product not listed on a commercial web site? Hmmm, maybe it's time to start believing in conspiracy theories.

Hey Bob, I see you live in Port Ludlow. I lived in Port Townsend for almost 10 years BSG (before steel guitar). I don't know anyone here in Boise that plays lap steel and if I were still in PT I'd know someone nearbywho did! But, when I was in PT, I was too busy working to even play guitar (my first instrument) let alone the others like dobro and lap steel that have somehow slipped in. Can't have it both ways... maybe it's part of that consiracy!

Bob (last off topic comment, I promise). It is a small world (and a hot one, 5th day in a row of 100+ weather. During mid summer I really miss the Pacific Northwest.) Enjoy some cool for me.

If it makes an electric steel sound like a Dobro, what does it make a regular electric guitar sound like ?

How much does the BoBro cost ?

I can't vouch for how it makes an electric guitar sound, but my experience with it is that it makes my OMI Dobro sound
