Has anybody seen or heard from Calvin since his last post in Feb?I know he travels a lot and when he last made a post in Feb.it seemed like he was ready to hang it up.I feel the same way some time as i just started my second year of learning on my own with lots of instrustional videos/cds.I know deep down that Calvin has the love and desire to play the steel like the rest of us,so if he surfaces again we should give him a big welcome home.

I believe he said he was going to be gone awhile on business. I hope he hasn't given up, but has learned how to listen to those who are experienced and trying to help him.

Richard, I echo your thoughts there.
It is always sad when someone wants to hang it up.
I also have a hang-up story... about a guy in this area who is 78 (!) and has always played the C6th but lately converted his single BMI to E9th... He told me that he was just about to give up on the E9th..can't make heads or tails of it.
Luckily, I think I have been able to convince him to hang on and keep trying. He will likely come here on Saturday and I will try and show him what little I know.
I wish he would become a member here...then y'all could help teach him. We'll see how it goes... |

Hey: I miss Calvin also, things haven't been the same around here since February, sure hope he hangs in there.
I have learned quite a bit from his post replys, especially the ones from guys like Don Brown Sr. and Dave Hudgett with all that music theory, need all I can get.

You know it is so easy to critize one and correct them as well, I find myself doing it.
All to often to a new guy just reading post's you kind of miss the point. Having a good teacher is a far more value than any course, bar none. There probably isn't alot of PSG players where he is from, I do remember him telling me he did have a teacher. But if you got a teacher then that is the holy grail. |
